FAQ: Active subscriptions and renewals

  1. What happens to employees' active and already paid fitness memberships through BFNL?
Memberships that are still active on 3 September 2026 will remain valid under their current terms and conditions until their scheduled end date. This means that nothing will change for memberships that have already been paid for and are currently active.

To facilitate the technical transition, FiscFree (on behalf of the employer) will administratively terminate all ongoing BFNL memberships on their planned end date. This is purely an administrative step required to enable the transition to the new fitness provider, benVitaal. Employees can therefore continue using their membership until its scheduled end date.
  2. How do employees and employers know when a membership is nearing its end date?
    1. For employees: The membership end date is always visible in their personal "My BFNL" environment. In addition, employees will receive an email notification when their membership is approaching its end date.
    2. For employers: Employers can view the end dates and current status of ongoing memberships through the corresponding order in the FiscFree administration environment.
  3. What does an employee need to do to continue exercising without interruption through the new platform and benVitaal?
The transition to the new platform and benVitaal will be handled behind the scenes. Employees only need to complete the following steps:
    1. At least five weeks before the membership end date, the employee will receive an email from FiscFree inviting them to start the transition.
    2. The employee completes a few simple steps in FiscFree and benVitaal, including accepting benVitaal's privacy statement (GDPR).
    3. Once the employee has completed the process and the employer approves the request, FiscFree will activate the arrangement with benVitaal on the selected start date.
  4. How can an employee's fitness membership be prevented from ending if the end date falls on or after 3 September 2026?
No action is required to prevent this. Terminating the BFNL membership on its planned end date is a mandatory administrative step to enable the transition to benVitaal.
If the employee responds to the instructions in the FiscFree email in time, their fitness membership will continue seamlessly with the new provider. We will, of course, do everything possible to communicate this process clearly and inform employees well in advance.
  5. Until when can ongoing BFNL memberships still be renewed or reviewed (rejected) in the current platform?
Normally, a renewal order is created six weeks before a membership ends, after which the employer has two weeks to approve or reject the renewal.Because all memberships with an end date on or after 3 September 2026 will be permanently terminated, they no longer need to be renewed or reviewed. As a result, no new BFNL renewal orders will be created in the current platform from 16 July 2026 onwards.
  6. What happens if an employee does not want to switch or does not respond?
If an employee no longer wishes to participate in the company fitness scheme after their planned end date, they do not need to take any action. If the employee does not respond, the current membership will simply end on its scheduled end date.
