One clear cycling budget: fair, simple, and future-proof

In the past, a higher trade-in value was often offered for e-bikes than for city bikes. This made sense at a time when e-bikes were relatively new and needed an extra incentive.

The balance between e-bike and city bike purchases has since shifted; e-bikes are now an integral part of daily life. Employees today make a conscious choice about the type of bike that best suits them; as a result, this specific setting was hardly ever used in practice. For this reason, this functionality has not been reinstated, and the new FiscFree platform uses a single, uniform deductible amount for all bikes.

Why a single amount?

Using a single deductible amount offers several advantages:
  • Fair
Employees who choose a city bike receive the same benefit as employees who choose an e-bike.
  • Neutral employer policy
The program encourages bicycle use in general, without favoring a specific type of bike.
  • Simple
A single fixed amount ensures clarity in policy, communication, and administration.
  • Future-proof
Fewer exceptions make the program more straightforward and sustainable in the long term.

What does this mean in practice?

All employees are eligible for the same tax-deductible amount, regardless of the type of bicycle they choose. This makes the bicycle benefit transparent, easy to explain, and equal for everyone.
